Handcrafted Furniture & Home Furnishings ~ Coffee & occasional tables, floor mirrors, curio cabinets, larger clocks, and more elaborate or delicate items, are usually a custom wood order and available only to our Minneapolis area patrons.

VanEss Expressions is all about Wood
We love the beauty, the feel, the creative possibilities. We also love the woods and forests. We personally examine each piece of lumber to determine the best shape to showcase its unique grain, but to also give the very least waste.
We make every attempt to use wood from trees that have come down during storms or otherwise had to be taken down (except, of course, those being removed for desease).
Our pieces are 100% wood ~ no plywood or laminates. We typically use domestic hardwoods, but do use some more exotic woods as accent pieces or by special request.
VanEss Expressions is all about Quality
Every peice we make is hand-sanded to a super-smooth finish, but we go that extra step of applying felt to the base of each piece intended to sit on your fine furniture.
We apply multiple coats of an extremely hard interior polyurethane varnish to give a durable, long lasting and easy-to-care-for finish.
All of our wall accent pieces are made to hang using a key-hole design - much more secure and flexible than zig-zag or other mechanical fastening systems.

We are a very small family business. From the original design, to the selection of wood, to the shaping of the piece, to the last coat of varnish ~ each item is individually and personally handcrafted by us. It is our name on, and our reputation behind each piece.
We are the ones our customers talk to ~ for a general purchase, that perfect custom wood item, or (heaven forbid) a complaint. We stand behind our work and work with our customers to make things right. Most of our sales are from repeat business or referrals ~ and that's the way we like it.
