Our handmade wood bowls & wood vases are individually & personally handcrafted, by us, in our Minneapolis Minnesota workshop (no imports) from either solid stock or glued up wood. Our standard woods are Oak, Ash, Maple, Cherry & Walnut, though other (and exotic) woods may be available. We also combine different woods (multi-wood) to give subtle or dramatic color contrast & designs. We prefer wood left natural, but do have stains & wood dyes to enhance the wood grain or add color.
Wood flower vases - handmade with the inside of the vase left narrow to hold the dried or silk flower stems. Wood fresh flower vases hold a water tube (included) for live flowers. Decorative wood vases that display the natural beauty of wood.
Our wood bowls are typically made for non-food items, but are fine for use as fruit bowls, etc. Most of our bowls are finished with a very hard interior wood polyurethane, but also have wood bowls with a food safe 'salad bowl' finish. And of course, hand-turned wood bowls are decorative in addition to be functional.
Our wood vases & bowls come in many different shapes, sizes and woods. Please check out - Gifts & Decor / Turned Items to see the vases & bowls currently available. If you don't find what you want - use the below pictures for reference - and contact us regarding a special order.
Unique & Original Handcrafted Wood Vases & Bowls ~
No item we make has more variety that our original wood vases & bowls. Each vase, each bowl, is individually hand-turned - one piece at a time. We do make multiples of a particular design, and we have had orders for items previously offered. We come as close as we can to match the item - but please keep in mind, there is no way we can exactly duplicate any piece.
Thus, each wood bowl & wood vase is truly a one-of-a-kind.
Solid Stock Maple Vase with slightly flared top ~
This particular vase was made of solid-stock maple with wonderful coloring and grain paterns. It is of a basic hour-glass shape with a slightly flared rim. Of course this basic shape can have totally different looks depending on the vase dimensions, the sharpness and placement of the curves, and how dramatic the flare.

Unique Multi-wood vase
~
The vase shown to the right also has the hour-glass shape, with a slightly out-turned base. This vase was made of Walnut and Maple - which compliments each other wonderfully. The a-symetrical placement of the different woods creates a very contemporary look.

Inward rolled rim ~
To the left is an example of what we call an inward rolled rim. This decorative wood vase combines Oak with Maple - a much more subtle color contrast than some other wood combinations. The clean lines of this vase along with the multi-woods allows this vase to stand alone or with flowers.

Outward rolled rim ~
This vase is made of solid Oak with a red-oak stain to accentuate the grain and has a
tight outward rolled rim that curves out, then back in and under. A very unusual design.
We typically prefer to leave woods natural, but do apply stains to Oak and Ash, and a variety of wood dyes to Ash for a splash of color.

We simply call this shape 'genie' ~
Long straight neck with a slightly flared rim and rounded base. This particular vase is made of Maple with a single Walnut slice. This is the perfect shape for a bud vase, and we can turn it to hold a water tube for fresh flowers. The stark color contrast gets this vase noticed.

Unusual Shape creates a Unique Pattern ~ This vase is made of Ash with 3 dainty Walnut slices. It was turned to produce this distinctive design of the contrasting woods - making this a vase that is as interesting on the inside as it is on the out-side.

Vases, Urns, Vessels ~
There are many different terms attached to vases but the definitions are real clear. Here we are just trying to give you some examples of different shapes so that you have something to reference. The multi-wood vase to the left was quite tall with slightly bowed sides, a sharper cut-in to a small flare. This particular vase combines Oak Walnut & Maple.

Multi-Wood Fresh Flower Vase ~
This vase resembles a drinking glass and is made up of Oak, Ash, Maple and Walnut. The patchwork design is very striking, and almost appear to be painted on - but each is a separate wood. This is a good example of one of the water tube insrts - placed just below the rim so as not to be visable one the flowers are placed.

Single Stock Bowl ~
Wonderful natural wood color and patterns are displayed in the solid stock Maple bowl. This wood bowl has a rustic appearance (with the knots and natural imperfections) but with a very smooth, refined feel. Wood offers unlimited design possibilities and goes well with any decor. Solid stock (not glued up wood boards) can reveal unknown and unexpected treasures.

Simple Walnut Bowl that really shines ~
This beautiful solid walnut bowl was handmade from glued up walnut board lumber. The wood was set perpendicular to each other, so that the colors of the wood seem change as the bowl is turned. Beautiful wood graining.
Beautiful bowl.
