Custom Furniture ~ When we say custom, we don't mean assembling a variety of stock components. We work with our customers to create that special, unique, one-of-a-kind piece to meet their specific needs and personal tastesl.

Is Space an Issue? The above table was custom ordered for a very small apartment. She wanted the look of a coffee table, but just didn't have the space for what was available. If she found a table the right size, it just didn't have the appearance she was looking for. We custom made this table to her size requirements, placed a shelf low so she could display items below the glass top, and stained it to match her current decor.

Fine Wood Furniture.. for a Doll? Custom Oak armoire measures 30" tall (excluding the curved top detail & hand-turned finiels), 18" wide and just over 12" deep - not your typical painted pine box. It has all the details you would expect to find in full-size fine furniture; but knowing who would be using it, we rounded the finiels, placed a washable surface on the draw bottoms, and added depth to allows the use of standard plastic hangers.

VanEss Expressions is more than just unique furniture. VanEss Expressions is a small Minnesota familiy business, creating original handcrafted home furnishings, gifts, home decor, hand-turned vases & bowls, unusual clocks and unique & custom furniture. (larger furniture items are not available thru the website. If you live or are visiting the Minneapolis area - please contact us. VanEss Expressions is all about Wood
All of our pieces are 100% solid hardwood ~ no plywood or laminates. We typically use domestic woods such as Ash, Oak, Maple, Cherry and Walnut, but other woods are available by special request. We have many different wood stains and dyes in stock to match your current decor or give a splash of color without covering up the grain; and we can special order others. We do not paint wood.

VanEss Expressions is all about Quality
Every peice we make is hand-sanded to a super-smooth finish, but we go that extra step of applying felt to the base of each piece intended to sit on your fine furniture.

We apply multiple coats of an extremely hard interior polyurethane varnish to give a durable, long lasting and easy-to-care-for finish.

All of our wall accent pieces are made to hang using a key-hole design - much more secure and flexible than zig-zag or other mechanical fastening systems.

We personally examine each piece of wood to determine the best shape to showcase its unique grain, but to also give the very least waste.

From the original design, to the last coat of varnish ~ each item is individually & personally handcrafted by us, one piece at a time.

It is our name on, and our reputation behind each item we sell. We are the ones our customers call for general purchases, that unique custom piece, or (heaven forbid) a complaint. We stand behind our work and work with our customers. Most of our sales are from repeat business or referrals ~ and that's the way we like it.
